I have bought from wish many times and they are legit. The thing with wish is, is that there are different shops that use them as a platform to sell their products. So there is no company called Wish selling all these products directly to you.
Each shop has different service delivery rating and if you are an avid buyer, you'd probably be well acquainted with which ones are the real deal. Some shops actually give you what you see and buy and others don't. Another thing with online buying is, you do not know the actual quality of the product.
The nice thing about wish is that if you are on top of your game and constantly track your product and they do not deliver on time; they have an automated system that let's you request for a refund. You not only get the refund, you also get to keep the product for free if it arrives. That had happened to me a few times.
The other issue is, the postal system. Our postal system in South Africa, sometimes leads to a delay in product delivery so it isn't technically their fault, yet they still refund you. Ofcourse, if you request a refund too late, they then deny it. So like I said, be on top of your online shopping game.
Also remember. Wish may look tempting. As you are scrolling through social media and their ad pops up, the price looks so unbelievable. You have to remember that shipping is sometimes double that price. Also, when it does eventually arrive at the post office in the country, you will either be sent an SMS or posted a slip to the shipping address. You have to use that to collect the package from the post office it came from; so it is best to put an address that has a post office close to you, since that's how it works. You will also then, on top of the product price and shipping pay the customs fee to the post office when collecting, which can be another R25-R30.
So it is best to do your homework and calculate the full price when purchasing so you know whether it was worth it. There's also the thing of some places advertising one thing and sending you something else.
I have experienced a few issues. Some where the product came late and I was too late to refund but hey atleast I got it. Some where I didn't get at all but got a refund. Some where things I ordered were not technically like the picture and sometimes the product may be here but you just don't get the slip since it is misplaced and they do not SMS all the time.
It all depends on your luck and the reliability on the people who are selling that product.
If you had any personal experiences with Wish that you would like to share, feel free to comment.
Here's an example of a product that came today. I ordered two jackets. They did not arrive on time. I requested a refund and got it back. About a week later the slip came from the post office. Wish said that I could keep the product if it arrived. It was one jacket only. Still glad that I ended up getting the jacket and only had to pay R25.00 to collect it, it was a bonus. Though, had it came on time and I had paid the full price of R200 and something Rand; I would have been disappointed, because what I ordered wasn't what was shown in the photo. I am not saying it isn't still cute. It is just not what I wanted.
The first picture is what is advertised on Wish. The second picture is what I received. Take a look at the buttons and the jacket opening. Yeah... not the same. Since it was a steal, I am not upset about it but if you were wondering... this is what Wish can be... a real lucky packet.
Take a look at this. This is the " Blue French horn and Yellow Umbrella" Necklace. (How I Met Your Mother Fans - Where you at)
So anyway, It firstly came like after 8-10 months because of the postal problems. I didn't get a refund because I said "I'd wait" and forgot about it. I thought I wasn't going to receive it but I did. This was like the photo and quality is good - yet once again, it is a risk.
The first photo is Wish. The second one is mine.
So it is entirely up to you to take a chance with Wish but I'd buy locally if the product is similar and I am saving like next to nothing after all that.
